Reading with Echo

How do the elements read the current global (social and ecological) catastrophes?

In this workshop we will introduced the Echo Tarot deck, an analytic-symbolic tool and artwork which was exhibited for the first time at the Galway Arts Centre in Ireland in June 2024 and that we are still developing. The deck embodies a philosophical perspective, which we call a praxis of deep implicancy, that gathers the contributions of feminist radical and anti-colonial theorizing. We will discuss the 4 classical elements (Earth, Water, Air, Fire) that structure the deck, and its main 4 figures – Generosity (The Empress), Infinity (The High Priestess), Implicancy (Justice), Syntony (Strength). Each element and corresponding cards will be introduced through a film by Denise Ferreira da Silva and Arjuna Neuman – Serpent Rain (2016), Soot Breath/Corpus Infinitum (2020), Four Waters/Deep Implicancy (2018), Ancestral Clouds/Ancestral Claims (2023), respectively.

Additionally, we will perform a public reading at MUAC on August 21.
